National Council of Churches

National Council on Independent Living (NCIL)

NCIL is the longest-running national cross-disability grassroots organization run by and for people with disabilities, representing the network of Centers for Independent Living found in nearly every region of the country. Adults with disabilities can find their local Center for Independent Living through NCIL to access peer support, skills training, and advocacy for independent living. Differentiator: independent living and self-determination focus, run by people with disabilities, connects to local CILs nationwide.

National Disability Rights Network (NDRN)

NDRN is the umbrella organization for federally mandated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) agencies and Client Assistance Programs, which exist in every state to protect the legal rights of people with disabilities at no cost. Families can find their state's P&A agency for free legal advocacy on abuse, neglect, and civil rights violations. Differentiator: every state has a federally funded P&A agency reachable through this hub — this is the free legal advocacy resource specific to disability rights violations.

National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities (NICHCY)

The Center for Parent Information and Resources (CPIR) serves as the hub of information for families raising children with disabilities, connecting them to state Parent Training and Information Centers (PTIs) in every state. Families can find their state PTI, access IEP guides, and learn about their rights under IDEA. All services are free and designed to empower families to advocate effectively for their children.
